While reaching for my dressing gown to put on over my already layered up wfh ‘look’ I found myself thinking…surely there’s a better way to say warm without putting the heating on just for me.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve run an exercise class and within minutes of starting I’m telling everyone to ‘take off a layer if you need to’ and it got me thinking; I have the answer…I know just what to do!
So I created a series of workouts called Winter Warmups, 4 minutes of whole body movement to get you warmed up from the inside out.
The first 6 are available now in the workout library. They are all low impact with no jumping and intended to be done with little space and no equipment. Best of all they don’t cost you a penny!
I’ve designed all of the workouts to be done in all of the places where we work; in your kitchen, in your home office, in the classroom (yes, they’re child friendly too!), in the breakout room, wherever you can move, you can do these workouts.
I don’t work from a fancy studio, I do all of my workouts in my family living space, I shift the sofa to one side, move the random lego figures and press record.
Of course moving your body, even for such a short period of time, has many more benefits than simply warming you up. You can also look forward to better concentration and creativity, increased mood, disease prevention, increased immunity & reduced aches and pains from sitting down.
So before you reach for that extra layer consider getting up and joining me for just 4 minutes to warm yourself up from the inside out. Heat the person, not the room.
